Amin Maalouf who is from Lebanon is an author. He lives in France. The reason why I’m going to talk about him, I love his books. Amin was born in 1949. His mother is Turkish and his father is Lebanese. Although He graduated economy and sociology, his job is journalist.
Amin Maalouf knows culture of Asia and culture of Mediterranean very well. His first book is The Crusades Through Arab Eyes. Then he wrote African Leo. In 1988, He publishes Semerkand. İt is one of the top five books in my experience. Amin Maalouf focused Central Asia, Iran geography and Seljuk history. First part of this book tells about the fight between Nizamülmülk and Hasan Sabbah. Moreover, Ömer Hayyam’s rubais accompany to readers. Second part of this book, It tells about young man who is pursuit of Ömer Hayyam’s lost book which the lost book emerge from Titanic. If you read this book, you cannot escape the influence of the book for days.
Amin’s books were translated to other languages. The names of his other important books are The Gardens of Light and the rock of Tanios.

In 1996, He publishes Ports of Call. This book was versatile to me which begins with Sultan Abdülaziz who is the Ottoman Sultan. Novel tells last times of Ottoman Empire, World War One, World War Two and War between Arabs and Jewry. Amin writes, a man cannot come together with his wife because of fights.
In my opinion, Amin Maalouf is an impressive writer for readers. He is fluent in style which has many awards. I think, people have to read his books before death.
